Chester P. Blessing, 85, of Piseco, died December 14, 2020, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home, Gloversville, NY. He was born July 23, 1935, in Albany, NY, the third child of George and Ida Plowinski Blessing. He graduated from Colonie School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957. On January 6, 1959, he married Jean Ann Kraeger in the Church of St. Claire, Colonie, NY. She died October 11, 2009. In 1972 he moved to Piseco with his wife and two children, Scott and Lynne, to take over Piseco Lake Lodge. The lodge was sold in 1996 and they retired in Piseco and enjoyed travelling. Chet and Jean were active with Piseco Ridge Riders, grooming snowmobile trails and with the Lake Pleasant Couple’s Golf League.
He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Melsert; son, Scott (Bonnie); his son-in-law, Lee Billington; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lynne Blessing Billington’ and his older brother, Edward.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Higgins Bay Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynne M.
