Jean L. Theurer

Jean L. Theurer, 69, of Steele Avenue Extension, Gloversville, passed away Monday morning, February 1, 2021, at River Ridge Living Center, Amsterdam, following a long illness associated with Huntington’s Disease.

She was born in Amsterdam, on May 12, 1951, a daughter of John and Harriet Miller Lynch and was a 1969 graduate of Perth Central School. Jean was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Theurer enjoyed working with people and held a variety of sales positions. She worked as a cashier at the Walmart in Gloversville, for several years before retiring in 2004.

Prior to her illness, Jean was a talented seamstress, enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, and loved doing crafts. Jean also enjoyed listening to music.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Jacob “Jake” Theurer; a son, Jonathan (Julie) Theurer of Amsterdam; a daughter, Shelly Van Nostrand (Jason) of Gloversville; a sister, Carol (Bruce) Jones; four grandchildren, Audrey, Brea, Justin, and Melina; her mother and father-in-law, Lillian and Burlin Argotsinger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (corner of Route 29 and Black Street), Johnstown. In accordance with current health guidelines, facial coverings and social distancing are required. A private memorial service will be held for the family. Final burial will be in the spring at the Broadalbin-Mayfield Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, in care of the funeral home.
