John Albert Romaine passed away on Jan. 27, 2021, at Ellis Hospital where he had been a patient for a short time.
John was born Jan. 30, 1943, in Gloversville, the son of Laura Travis Romaine and William Romaine. He attended Gloversville schools and later worked in different tanneries until he suffered a stroke.
John was a quiet person who loved to watch western movies, enjoyed country music, playing cards, fishing, family picnics and bowling on the Wii game.
John is survived by his daughter, Calli Barnes; sisters, Josephine Ward, Laura Dutcher, Ella Smith (Richard Quant), Beverly Colby, Ethel Meher of Florida; brothers, Walter Romaine (Florence) and Steve Romaine; grandchilden, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Laura and William Romaine; sister, Evelyn Dutcher; brothers, Richard Romaine, William Romaine, Robert Romaine and James Romaine.
There will be no calling hours or services. Arrangemts were entrusted to Amico Funeral Home. Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady, N.Y.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Ellis Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion for John. Also, Amico Funeral Home and to our sister, Beverly, for all the time and care she took with John.
He will be placed with his mother and father at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
