Joshua Rector, 42, of Johnstown, NY, and most recently of Saratoga Springs, NY, went home peacefully to the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2021.
He was born in Amsterdam on October 10, 1978, and is the son of David Rector and the late Debra M. (Kozlowski) Rector, who passed away on March 10, 1998.
Survivors include his father, David Rector of Schenectady, NY; maternal grandfather, Honorable Aloysius Kozlowski of Amsterdam; also by his sister, Danielle Rector of Gloversville, NY; aunts and uncles, Roxanne Hojohn of Maine, Rodney Rector of Texas, Kevin (Rhonda Oare) Kozlowski of Amsterdam; and Donna Shelmandine of Johnstown, NY. Cousins also survive.
Joshua was predeceased by his loving mother; and his brother, Jason M. Rector, who passed away August 30, 2020; also by his grandmother, who passed away on March 29, 2020, Jean M. (Slaveikis) Kozlowski; and his paternal grandparents, Eve and Don Rector.
Joshua was raised in Johnstown, NY. He attended Johnstown High School. He worked as a bricklayer for the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local Union 2 in Albany, and worked in construction for the NYS Laborers’ Tri-Funds in Albany. Joshua enjoyed doing masonry work and owned and operated Stock Ade Masonry.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at 6 p.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, with Father O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday prior to the funeral service from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be in St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Amsterdam. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required at all services.
