Alvin Smith


Mr. Alvin Smith,55, of Fruitland Park, FL, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2021, at Leesburg Hospital. He was predeceased by his father, David H. Smith; his mother Nancy Lee (Johnson) Brockham; his brother, Charles E. Smith; his sister, Jane A. Smith; and his sister-in-law, Carol A. Smith.

Alvin was born November 17, 1965, in Gloversville, NY. He attended Fort Plain High School and soon after relocated to Florida. Alvin was a jack of all trades. He was self-employed running his own la¶wn service and did odd jobs on the side. Alvin enjoyed fishing, boating, and riding his motorcycle. He always had a smile on his face and a funny story to tell. When you were with Alvin, you always had a good time. Alvin loved his family and friends and spent as much time with them as possible.

Alvin is survived by his son, Michael Shostek of Palantine Bridge, NY; and grandsons, Anthony Shostek of North Carolina, Ethan and Elijah Shostek of Fort Plain, NY and Izah Shostek of Little Falls, NY; brother, David Smith (Lois) of Palantine Bridge, NY; brother, Robert Smith (Sheila) of Canajoharie, NY; brother, Edward Pierce (Megan) of New Hartford, NY; sister, Penny Loring (Dave) of Palantine Bridge, NY; sister, Nancy Smith (Patricia) of Harker Heights, TX; many cousins, nieces, nephews and many beloved friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Hilltop Bar, Fruitland Park, FL on Saturday, April 17, at 3:30 p.m. and another celebration of life will held at Countyline Smoke House on Saturday, May 1. at 2 p.m.

Alvin will be cremated and returned home to New York at a date to be determined.
