Larry Flood, ‘The Wheel’

Larry Flood, “The Wheel,” 72, of Mayfield, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Melvin and Evelyn Richardson Flood.

He is survived by his brother, John and Renate Flood of Germany; sister, Wanda Swally Flood of Mayfield; his children, Bryon and Elizabeth Mendetta Flood, Michelle and Chris Lewis, Larry II and Shannon Suave Flood; grandchildren, Dylan, Madison, Samantha, Moira, Logan, Bella, Kelsie, Evan, and Olivia; nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard of Mayfield, and Spencer of Florida.

Larry was a 1967 graduate of Mayfield Central School, where he excelled in basketball and baseball, where he continued to play adult league softball after school, where he was a pitcher (Four Point Tavern). “Floodie” was always the life of the party, where he loved his family and friends and entertaining to all.

Larry started his career at Montoney’s Datsun in Gloversville and later joined Herba Nissan where he found his nitch in life in sales. He always made friends out of complete strangers and would do anything for anyone. Larry also loved sports from the Yankees to the Broncos; to hunting and fishing, gardening, and if garage sales were a sport he would have included that also.

A special thank you to his caregivers from VNA, Amy and Mark; his homehealth aides, Lorie and Danny; a few special people dear to him at NYOH, NLH infusion therapy unit and the entire team at Mt. Valley Hospice, where they made his transition at home so easy and allowed us to surround him by love as he did for so many before him.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078. Amico Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences for the family may be made to:
