Alfred ‘Paul’ Chapin III

PHOTOGRAPHER:

Alfred “Paul” Chapin III, 78, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Waterbury, CT on January 23, 1943, the son of the late Alfred P. Jr. and Dorothy Dickinson. He was a high school graduate and welder for Delaney Excavation in Mayfield, retiring in 2012.

He was an avid motocross enthusiast with many trophies under his belt.

He had a “dream” to live off the grid. He moved from Connecticut, found his 1850 homestead with a creek on the property and made his dream a reality; off the grid for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janette (Jaros) Chapin; sons, Alfred P. (Jean) Chapin IV of Connecticut, Wesley (Hilary) Chapin of New Hampshire; daughters, Elizabeth Rossi of Pennsylvania, Jesse and Abby; stepsons, Edward (Jackie) Fox of Gloversville, Jeffrey (Janice) Fox of Nelliston; several grandchildren, nephews and nieces; and best friend, Aaron Howland.

He was predeceased by his brother, Larry Chapin; and stepdaughter, Larraine Chapin; and his beloved dog, Dolly.

A special thanks to the doctors and staff at St. Mary’s and NYOH in Amsterdam.

There will be no services per his wishes and a private gathering for the immediate family at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Gloversville Funeral Home. Condolences may be made to the family online at www.gloversvillefuneralservice.com.
