Clement E. Steenburg passed away peacefully at his home on Friday July 30, 2021 He was born July 18, 1921,to the late William H. Steenburg and Jennie Carr Steenburg. He was predeceased by his first wife, Minerva Gallant Steenburg and second wife, Ruby l.Crandall Steenburg.His brothers Paul, Earl,Harold, and Fred.His sisters May, Pauline and Catherine.Cousin Clarence.
His son George Walker jr and daughters, Edith Grafton and Christine Walker. Clement was a life long Resident of Gloversville,where he owned and operated his own trucking business called Beeline Trucking.
Some of his passions were hunting,fishing, bowling,watching sports and the crop walkathon. He was a life time member of his church Bleecker Street Church of Christ in Gloversville. He held many positions in the church, head of the church board, deacon,trustee,sunday school teacher.
He held a 100% attendance record.he participated in the choir, church rummage sales, aquiring church donations and helped in organizing church events.
There will be a memorial flower garden constructed on the church property in his honor. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps with the First Marine Division in World War II from 1942 to 1945.
He defended his country at the battle of Guadacanal as well as many other island battles immediatly after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
He received many medals and citations both during and after the war for his service to his country. He received an honorary High School Diploma from Gloversville High School on October 9, 2018. He is survived by many grand children, great grand children and great great grand children, as well as nieces and nephews,two sons Mark Steenburg, and Barbara, Steven Steenburg and Rob, Daughter Nancy Warner.
In keeping with Clement’s wishes his body was gifted to Albany Medical College for the Anatomical Gift Program.
A celebratory of life memorial service will be held at his church, Bleecker Street Church of Christ at 46 Spring Street Gloversville New York on August 28, 2021 at 1 pm.
The service will be performed by his church Pastor, Reverend John L.Dutcher sr. All are welcome to attend to pay their respects.
