Philip E. Becker, 69, of Providence passed away at home early Tuesday morning, August 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family and furbabies.
Born in Gloversville on April 25, 1952, he was a son of the late Howard and Inez Lawton Becker.
Philip was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Mayfield High School, class of 1972. He spent the last thirty years in Providence.
After graduating, Phil worked for local contractors, excavators, and logging firms. He eventually became a self-employed logger. After twenty-two years of service, Phil retired in 2018 from the Galway Highway Department.
Philip was a member of the Antique Caterpillar Club (ACMOC), Chapter 8. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, was an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing and cutting firewood.
Together since 1986, Philip is survived by his wife Pamala J. Holt Becker whom he married July 15, 2002. He is also survived by a son, John (Michele) Becker of Providence; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Sanford of Broadalbin and Jaclyn Gasner of Watertown; a brother, Howard (Kathleen) Becker of Mayfield; six grandchildren, Brian, Mark, Jillian, Kristina, Samantha, and Carter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 1-4 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bonnie Orth, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
