Laura was married to Bob Channell for 27 years and together they also successfully owned and operated Wemple & Edicks Ice Cream and Bakery in Sammonsville for 20 years, selling the business in 2020. Notably, Laura had always had a love of baking and followed her dreams to attend and graduate from Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Prior to her teaching career she used these skills and found employment at a number of restaurants and hotels, including the Charles Hotel in Boston and the Sagamore Resort in Lake George.
