Mary Groshans, age 96, formerly of Pine Lake and Johnstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville after a short illness.
Prior to her illness, she was a resident at Pineview Commons Assisted Living Center where she had many friends and extended family that she loved dearly.
Born February 2, 1925, she is the daughter of the late Stella and John Ponzi.
Mary is survived by nieces, nephews, many dear friends, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her husband, Richard Groshans; siblings, Angelo Louis, Zachary Ponzi, Regina Rivenburgh, and Renalda Culver.
Mary will be remembered for her love of family, friends, and constant devotion to her beloved blessed Mother.
The family wishes a special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days and to Pineview Commons that she called “home” for the past several years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 11:30AM at Holy Trinity Church, 205 Glebe Street, Johnstown, NY. There will be no calling hours.
A private interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary’s memory can be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave Ext., Gloversville, NY.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown.
