Richard C. Tompson

Richard C. Tompson, 75, of Baum Road, St. Johnsville
passed away on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at Bassett
Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.
He was born on May 28, 1946 in Little Falls the son of
the late Francis and Marie (Nellis) Tompson and was
a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1964.
Richard joined the United States Air Force and
served from 1964 and was honorably discharged in
February 1972. Upon returning from the service he
furthered his education at Schenectady County Community
College where he received his Engineering
Degree.
He worked for 30 years at Northeast Controls. Upon
his retirement, he was able to do much travelling.
He was a member of the Seeker’s Fellowship Church
and was a member of the West St. Johnsville Cemetery
Board, folding the position of Vice President
since July of 2010.
Rich was pre-deceased by his parents, Francis and
Marie; his wife Darlene Sanders Tompson; his brother,
William Tompson.
Survivors include his son, James Tompson and
his wife Tracy; his daughter, Jessica Tompson; his
step-children, Bryn (Myra) Trumbull, Bobbie Jo
(Mark) Rowland, Shannon (Rich) Welch Gannon, and
Josh (Jennifer) Welch, step-grandchildren, Brandon
(Constance) Trumbull, Austin & Robert Trumbull,
Avery and Savannah Rowland, Aubrey, Taya and Kaylin
Gannon and Clayton and Dustin Welch; a great
grandchild, Garrett Trumbull. He is also survived
by many friends and family including, Bill and Sherry
Kneaskern, Lori and Janelle Pawling, Leslie and
Charles Siegel, Mike and Holly Wentworth, Bob and
Maryann, Charlie and Diane, Sue and David, Mike and
Diane, Ron and Darlene, Patti and Sherry, The Bode
family and the Smith family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October
23, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral
Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St.
Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040, with Rev. Michael Yezierski,
officiating. Burial will follow at West St. Johnsville
Cemetery with full military honors. The family will be
receiving relatives and friends on Saturday, October
23, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of the services
at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions may be
made to either, Pura Syndrome, Make a Wish Foundation,
Ronald McDonald House or to Roswell Park
Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral
home.
