John P. Krom


Mr. John P. Krom, age 86, of Mayfield, New York, died
on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at his home with his
loved ones nearby, after an illness.
John was born on May 29, 1935 in Gloversville, New
York, the son of Roscoe and Ruth (Baird) Krom. He
worked proudly at home as a life-long farmer, and was
also employed as a machinist by the General Electric
Company of Schenectady, New York, a position he
enjoyed for over 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman
and enjoyed fishing (especially ice-fishing), gardening,
and just being outdoors. He was also a gifted
woodworker, and enjoyed latch hooking, doing puzzles,
and playing cards with his friends and family.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy J. (Whitman)
Krom, whom he married on May 4, 1963; his children:
Gregory (Brian) Krom, Deborah (Russell) Krom-
Betler, Kevin (Gavin) Krom, Karen (Jeff) Blake, and
Douglas (Angela) Krom; as well as several grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous
to count.
He was predeceased by his parents; as well as his
siblings: George Krom, Robert Krom, William Krom,
and John’s twin sister, Janet Spencer .
A graveside service for John will be held at 11:00 a.m.
on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Prospect Hill Cemetery,
Prospect St, Northville, New York.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of
John to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue,
Gloversville, NY 12078.
The staff of Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home is
honored to have been entrusted with John’s care.
