Edward J. VanAllen

Mr. Edward Joseph VanAllen, 63, of Gloversville,
passed away on December 28, 2021 at Nathan Littauer
Hospital with his wife Catherine and brother,
Steven by his side.
He was born June 8, 1958 in Amsterdam, NY, the
son of the late, Charles and Florence (Hayes) VanAllen.
On July 10, 2004, he married the love of his life,
Catherine Weaver at Meyer’s Park and the two spent
seventeen happy years together.
As a child he attended Mayfield Central School
as well as Perth Bible Church. Later in life he was
an active member of the Starlight Bowling League,
where he spent every Friday night where he made
many life long friendships and long lasting memories.
He was a life long New York Football Giants
fan never missing a game. On his most recent birthday
his cousins Jon and Julie Pettit surprised him
with tickets to the Meadowlands to watch the Giant’s
play. He loved to play poker with his friends
at his house. In addition to watching football and
basketball he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren
whom he loved dearly.
He held several jobs over the years including a
corrections officer and clerk at Cumberland Farms.
In addition to his wife Catherine, he is survived
by, his children; Jeremiah VanAllen, Matt VanAllen;
his step children, Annmarie Sanchez, Richard
Sanchez and Candice Sanchez; his siblings, Leo AP
VanAllen, Harvey VanAllen, Steve VanAllen, Anthony
VanAllen and Kenneth VanAllen Sr.; several
grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as
his nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his
brother, Charles VanAllen Jr.; his sisters, Florence
M. Quillan and Deborah Morrison.
The family will receive relatives and friends from
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., January 7, 2022 at Walrath &
Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
Masks will be required for all in attendance.
