Arnold Ralph Eckerson Jr.

PHOTOGRAPHER:

Northville – Arnold Ralph Eckerson Jr, 56, passed away, way too soon, on January 18 at St. Mary’s Hospital with loving family by his side, after fighting a fierce battle for several weeks.
Arnie Jr was born in Cobleskill, NY on June 18, 1965 and baptized September 14,1975; the son of Arnold Sr. and Roxanna. He originally attended Fort Plain Central School before the family relocated to their hometown of Mayfield NY. He graduated Mayfield Central School in 1983.
Arnie was self-employed as a mason and carpenter doing business as Eckerson Construction. He was also previously employed with AJS Masonry in Half Moon as well as several other local businesses.
On June 11, 2016, he and Jessica Sweet married in a beautiful simple ceremony on the shores of the Great Sacandaga Lake.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities including boating, camping, fishing, hiking and hunting. His favorite past time though was most often spent motorcycle riding. He was a member of the local bike club chapter, Sacandaga H.O.G. (Harley Owner’s Group) where he has many close friends. Arnie enjoyed, along with his wife, adventuring all over and experiencing many new places.
Arnie was loved by all who knew him. His many friends include childhood neighbors, high school classmates, community and business associates. For many years, Arnie served his community as a volunteer EMS and Fire first responder.
Arnie was a hard worker, often working through physical pain to get the job done. He enjoyed anything outdoors, as long as his family was by his side. When he made a goal, he set it and completed it. He was a loyal loving son who regularly took care of his parents’ home improvement needs.
Survivors include his wife Jessica, parents Arnold Sr. and Roxanna, sisters Dorrine, Arlene(Greg) and Suzanne (Sean), sons Michael (Katie), Gerald, and Connor, step-son Chase, and grandson Brycen as well as nephews Spencer, Matthew, and Brandon, nieces Helen, Taylor, Katelyn and Emily, an uncle, three aunts and many cousins.
Arnie’s Facebook page motto reads, “I love life and look forward to new adventures. Wish I had more free time for family and friends.”
Arnie will be greatly missed.
Viewing hours will be Monday, January 24 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Service, followed by refreshments at Baptist Church of Northville BCON Corner.
