Shirley M. Frederick

Gloversville – Shirley M. Frederick, aka “Ma Tuck” resident of Gloversville New York, passed away peacefully in the care of Nathan Littauer Extended Care on February 23, 2022.
Born in Gloversville, New York on May 17, 1930 she is the daughter of the late Clinton “Spike” and Betty (Bush)Craig.
United in marriage to Donald “Buckshot” Frederick on October 24, 1948.
A graduate of Gloversville High School in 1948, she worked as an aide at Park Terrace School; the “Pop Corn Lady” at McLellan’s Store, worked at Argersinger’s Department Store and the McNab School as a “lunch lady” until her retirement. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Johnstown and the former secretary of the Ida McGinnis Senior Club, she was involved in CSEA, Al-Anon, the former entertainment director at Forest Hill Towers. Shirley was an avid Nascar fan and went to Fonda Speedway every Saturday night. She enjoyed playing bingo, known as the “Bingo Queen”. She was the best cook and arranged many family reunions. She loved visiting her family in Arizona and participating in activities at the nursing home.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Barbara) Frederick of Gloversville, Kathy Kovarovic of Scottsdale, AZ and Thomas (Toni) Frederick of Gloversville; “Noni” to her grandchildren, Petrina Frederick, John (Sherie) Kovarovic and Kari (Todd) Archer; great grandchildren, Mia Mendoza and Ella Kovarovic; sister Charlotte(Bob) Jock of Morrisonville, NY; a nephew, nieces and cousins. A special cousin Sandy (Miller) Murray of Gloversville. Shirley is preceased by her husband and parents, a sister Jo Ann Wysomerski and loving son in law John J. Kovarovic.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service of remembrance, Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown.
Contributions may be made to Nathan Littauer Extended Care Activities, a special thank you to Nathan Littauer Extended Care who took such wonderful care of Shirley at the nursing home through this horrible pandemic and isolation, especially Charity.
