Lillian Leona Whipple Argotsinger

Gloversville – Lillian Leona Whipple Argotsinger, 98, of Gloversville passed away at The Wells House, Johnstown, New York on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
Born on May 16, 1923, she was the daughter of Ernest and Mildred Whipple.
Graduating from Broadalbin High School in 1941, and the former Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing in 1944, she attended Russell Sage College in the late 1950’s.
Known as a “Nurses’ Nurse “and a well-respected nurse leader, Lillian “Diamond Lil” Theurer Place Argotsinger was formally employed by Nathan Littauer Hospital for over 41 years. As a registered nurse, she worked in various units including medical/surgical, maternity, pediatrics, and the operating room.  She became the Emergency Room Supervisor, Nursing Supervisor, and Assistant Director of Nursing, retiring as the Director of Nursing in 1985. Her retirement party, given by the hospital, was attended by over 165 people where Thomas Dowd, CEO, presented with her with diamond earrings and a diamond necklace befitting her name.
Mom had a passion for baking, quilting, and miniature doll houses, traveling and teachable moments which will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was also involved in the Nathan Littauer Nursing Alumni Association, where she served as past President, and a member of the Broadalbin Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by the “love of her life”, her husband Burlin Argotsinger of Broadalbin, sons Lawrence Theurer, Walter “Jake” Theurer, and daughters Elaine Warner, Kathie (Chris) Rohrs, Rebecca (John) Bacon, stepson William (Cheryl) Argotsinger, and stepdaughter Patty Bosshart.  Her surviving grandchildren are Matthew Theurer, Meredith (Joseph) DiPietro, Jon (Julie) Theurer, Shelly VanNostrand (Jason Seeley), Colin Warner (Bridgett DaBiere), Sarah (Tim) Chapp, Christian Rohrs (Tristan Turk), Mackensie (Jacob) Greene, Lyndsey (William) Gates, John Bacon.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Justin, Melina, Abigail, Audrey, Brea, Adam, Lilly, Mason, and Eliana.
She was predeceased by her siblings Ernest C. Whipple and Edna Fyfe, husbands; Walter Theurer and Howard Place; as well as her beloved granddaughter, Anne Bacon; son-in-law Mason Warner; stepson Gary Argotsinger; daughter-in-law Jean Theurer; and Elaine’s fiancée, Anthony “Crit” Christiano.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.  The service will follow, with Rev. Dr. Bonnie Orth, officiating in which all are welcome.
