Margaret (Peggy) Romaine

Gloversville – Margaret (Peggy) Romaine, 85, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2022. Peggy was born in Central Bridge, New York to her late parents, Leroy and Eva Mae (Moister) Cook.
Peggy raised three children on her own after her husband, Sidney Hopkins, became ill when she was only 34 years old. She worked very hard to provide a good life for her children.
Peggy was a legal secretary and worked for Michael Geraghty, Frederick Stortecky and most recently, Fulton County Commissioner of Social Services retiring in 2008.
Peggy enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and needlework in her spare time. Starting in 1966, she started collecting miniatures. After many years, she was able to work with her second husband to build a 6’ x 8’ bookcase style dollhouse with 23 luxurious rooms and a huge yard. This was her crowing achievement that she was extremely proud of.
Peggy was predeceased by her first husband and father to her children, Sidney Hopkins, her most recent husband, Richard Romaine, her parents, Leroy and Eva Mae Cook and her brother, Bill Cook.
She is survived by her three children, Debbie Littleton, Kim Smith (Brian Cornell) and Pam Hopkins.
Peggy has three grandchildren, Alyssa Smith (Mike Darrow), Leandra Smith (Joshua Coupus) and Travis Grissom. She has 4 great-grandchildren that were the light of her life.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, 3/12, at 11:30 a.m. at John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave, Gloversville, NY, followed by a service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the spring at Mayfield Rural Union Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
