Judith Ann Perry


Johnstown – Judith Ann Perry of Johnstown, NY passed away in Vernon,VT on March 3, 2022 following a short illness with her family by her side. Judy was born in Amsterdam, NY on November 5, 1945 to Maxine (Lasher) and Gerald Perry. After graduating from Johnstown High School in Johnstown, N.Y. she continued her education at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester N.Y. with a degree in Business Administration and Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Judy worked as a Probation Officer for the Fulton County Probation Office for many years, which she retired from in 2010. She also worked at the Tryon School for Boys and served on the Board of the Hamilton, Fulton and Montgomery Prevention Council.
Judy was an expert knitter and made hundreds of sweaters, favoring complicated cable patterns, along with many hats, scarves and blankets. She was known for her baking and family recipes, especially her oatmeal bread and half-moon cookies, her ability to solve puzzles of all kinds, her love of reading, and love of classic rock including her favorites Freddy Mercury and Elton John. Judy was noted for her sharp wit, quick comebacks, and sage advice which will especially be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Todd Perry and wife Darcy of Wardsboro, VT and grandchildren Rowan and Declan, and her son Jay Goldacker of West Grove, PA and grandchildren Morgan and Alex. She is also survived by her sister Margarent Brodeur and brother-in-law Dick of Oakland, NJ, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Gerald and Maxine Perry, her sister Eleanor Hartman, and her son Gregory Goldacker along with her beloved Bearded Collie Bo-Diddley.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday May 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Johnstown Cemetery at the family plot. Reception to follow at the family home at 339 North Perry St. in Johnstown.
