Gloversville – Gerhard D. Steding, age 86, of Johnstown, Ny, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at his home.
Born on January 12, 1936, in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of the late Diedrich and Emily (Mueller) Steding.
A Graduate of Johnstown High School (1953) Gerhard then proudly served his country in the United States Marines from 1953 until 1956. He received his associates degree at SUNY Alfred. Gerhard was employed for many years at Niagara Mohawk as an electrical planner. He was a longtime member of the Pine Tree Rifle Club, Marine Core Serviceman’s Club, and Long-Range Bench Rest Enthusiast and Downhill Skier.
He married the love of his life for 63 years, Marie (Vietri) Steding on December 28, 1958, who survives.
Gerhard is also survived by his sons, Christopher Steding, Richard Steding, Eric Steding (Jacques Rosas); grandchildren, Ian Steding (Cristen), Danielle Steding, Jarred Steding; He will be missed by a large extended family and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Gerhard is predeceased by his sister, Marie Gerlach.
In keep with his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gerhard’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
