Fort Johnson – Chester L. Brown, age 85, of Fort Johnson, NY, passed away on Thursday June 16, 2022, at Nathan Littauer Hospital with his loving wife by his side.
Born on May 21, 1937, in Perth, NY, he was the son of the late Scott and Nellie (Hopkins) Brown.
Chester founded and operated Brown’s Drywall LLC, in Fort Johnson for more than 50 years. He enjoyed working, watching the stocks, and tending his fruit trees. Most importantly Chester loved to spend time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He married the love of his life, Priscilla (Nellis) Brown on October 26, 1957, who survives.
Chester is also survived by his children, Ben Brown (Ann), Beverly Rathbun (Shane Horton), Daniel Brown (Mary), Michael Brown (Terri), Jeffrey Brown (Sue), Lisa Holland (Robert); sister, Avis Passino; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Elissa, Linae, Michelle, Nathaniel, Patrick, Emma, Thomas, Jack, Logan, Kinsley; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Chester is predeceased by his brothers, Richard “Dick” Brown, and Gordon Brown.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY, with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Following the service, there will be a gathering for family and friends at 5:00 p.m. at Chester’s home, 999 County Highway 107, Fort Johnson, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Chester’s memory may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY, 12078.
