Lake Worth, FL – Stephen L. Barker, age 74, of Lake Worth, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2022.
Steve was born on September 28, 1947 in Gloversville, NY. He attended Johnstown High School and was a graduate of SUNY Oneonta. He was the consummate entrepreneur and reinvented himself in many different occupations through the years. Civic duty was paramount to Steve. He served as President of the Board of Education for the Wheelerville Union Free School District and the Town Supervisor for the Town of Caroga Lake. An excellent cook, Steve prepared countless prime rib dinners and pancake suppers for the community in his free time. Pitch was his favorite pastime. His quick wit and signature sarcasm will be well remembered by all that knew him.
Steve is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Carol. They were married for 52 years and enjoyed a great number of adventures together. Steve was predeceased by his parents, LeRoy and Sally Barker of Johnstown. Other family members dear to Steve were his sister, Joanne, who currently resides in Albany, New York, a son, Ian, in Savannah, Georgia, and a daughter, Ali, and a son-in-law, Dave in Boynton Beach, Florida. His nephew, Rich and his family live in Monument, Colorado and his niece, Kim and her family live in Apex, North Carolina. He doted over 3 grandchildren, Winston, Halen, and Mackenzie.
