William J. Andrest

Gloversville – William J. Andrest, 78, of State Highway 30, Gloversville, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Nathan Littauer Hospital.
He was born in Gloversville on December 18, 1943, a son of William and Alice Morey Andrest and was educated in local schools. Bill was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Andrest retired from the GE in Schenectady where he was employed as a pipe-fitter and welder.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing and was a member of local leagues. He looked forward to spending time with the guys each week. He also loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, MaryJo Pedrick.
Survivors include his wife, Naioma Howard Andrest, whom he married on June 29, 1963; two daughters, Barbara (Lonn) Hatcher and Georgia (Bradley) Dutcher; four brothers, Ronald, John, Steven, and David Andrest; a sister, Marianne Mahoney; six grandchildren, Evan Dutcher, Zachary and Trevor Hatcher, Riley and Logan Pedrick, and Haleigh Grubb; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11am – 1pm at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc. 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bonnie Orth, officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
