Northville – Mary Ann Grega died peacefully in her home on December 22, 2022. She was accompanied by her son and daughter in law as they guided her to Heaven. Born and raised in Norman, Oklahoma, she met James Grega while he was serving in the Navy. They fell in love, were married for 43 years, and had two children, Wayne and Tim Grega, who lit up her life.
She moved to the Village of Northville in 1960, and committed herself to the residents, serving as Town Clerk for the Town of Northampton for 23 years. She was also a devoted and giving member of the church throughout the entirety of her life. Mary Ann resided in her home in the Village for over 60 years, and created a gathering space welcome to all. She enjoyed reading, hummingbirds, and the occasional Manhattan, but the thing she loved most was spending time with friends and family. After her husband’s death in 1999, she found a partner in Clarence Gagne. Clarence’s daughter Susy Ostrander quickly became the daughter Mary Ann always wanted. Clarence and Mary Ann spent ten years together, traveling and accompanying each other, until his death in 2016.
Mary Ann’s family would like to express just how giving she was. She would always go out of her way to help someone in need, and set an example we should all aspire to.
She is predeceased by her parents Henry and Lucy Marquis, her siblings, Joseph and Jerry Marquis, her husband, James Grega, companion, Clarence Gagne, and daughter in law, Tonye Grega.
She is survived by her sons, Timothy and Wayne Grega, step daughter, Susy Gagne, daughter in law, Stephanie Ross, grandchildren, James Grega, Joe Grega, Adrienne Ginter, Andrew Ross, and Ethan Ross, great grandchildren, Lexi and Landon Ginter, as well as many others who loved her dearly.
