Vail Mills – Sharon L. Stanton, 67, of State Highway 30, Vails Mills, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
She was born in Gloversville on March 13, 1955, a daughter of William and Lyda Unger Barnett and attended school in Mayfield and later in Gloversville. Sharon was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Stanton enjoyed caring for others and was employed in human services.
Her pride and joy were her family. She loved spending time with family and friends. Sharon enjoyed decorating and maintaining her home and enjoyed gardening, both floral and vegetable. She loved quilting, camping, and antiquing, and was known to have a soft heart for animals. Sharon was a strong and independent woman.
She was predeceased by her mother, Lyda Kadle and a nephew, Calvin Harlow.
Survivors include her husband, Gary S. Stanton, whom she married on April 28, 1979; five children, Michael Stanton of St. Augustine, FL, Anthony Stanton and Serina Stanton, both of Broadalbin, Amanda (Jeremy) Knapp of St. Johnsville, and Jeremy Stanton of Fort Plain; her father, William Barnett of Mayfield; her siblings, Rick (Jodi) Barnett, Patricia Gregson, Bobbi Jo (Christopher) Walters, and Tina (Richard) Reeves, all of Johnstown, Robert Barnett and Billie Jo (Ray) Hill, all of Gloversville, George Kadle of Siloam Springs, AK, and Gilbert (Michele) Kadle of North Fort Myers, FL; three grandchildren; her feline babies, Grace and Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. In accordance with Sharon’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M.
