Arline M. Matousek (Strong)

1930-2023 Edinburg – On Thursday, January 5th, 2023 Arline Matousek, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Arline was reunited with her beloved husband, Alois Matousek who passed away almost one year prior on January 15, 2022.
Arline was born on June 20th, 1930 in Rockland, MA to Raymond and Doris Strong. She moved to Schenectady, NY when she was 17 years old and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1948. It was at Mont Pleasant where she met the love of her life, Alois “Louie” Matousek. Arline and Louie married on July 1st, 1950 and started their beautiful family shortly after. Arline and Louie loved to travel with family and friends, always sure to bring back a refrigerator magnet as a memento of their trips. Arline enjoyed bowling and was an excellent crocheter; she often created beautiful blankets that she gifted to family and friends. She joined the Mont Pleasant Independent Order of Odd Fellows as a Rebekah where she carried out her many duties with pride and grace. Additionally, Arline was a dedicated member of the Edinburg United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for many years.
Arline and her family had a camp in Choke Cherry Campgrounds before building their forever home on South Shore Rd. in Edinburg on the beautiful Sacandaga Lake in 1975. Countless memories were created on Sacandaga Lake with family and friends boating, fishing and just floating on the water. Arline was a proud member of the Edinburg community. Arline and Louie would often meet with friends at the Four Corners Diner to enjoy good food and good times.
Arline was predeceased by her beloved husband of almost 72 wonderful years, Alois “Louie” Anton Matousek; her father Raymond Strong, and mother, Doris Strong; brother Raymond Strong Jr. (Sonny); and sister Natalie Alden. Arline is survived by her loving children, Patricia Lewandowski (Paul), James Matousek (Betsy), and Cheryl Gilles (Jon). She is also survived by her caring grandchildren, Paul Lewandowski (Carla), Kimberly Woodcock (Todd), Rachel Shevy (Bob), and Katelyn Matousek (Samantha). Arline was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Zachary Lewandowski (Jessica); and Harrison and Natalie Shevy.
Friends and family are invited to call on Saturday, January 14th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. Northville, NY. A funeral will be held in the Spring on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 11:00 a.m. at Edinburg United Methodist Church, 3 N. Shore Rd. Edinburg, NY, followed by a cemetery service and reception. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rockwell Falls Emergency Squad, PO Box 558, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846.
