Gloversville – Doris O. Ingram, 95, formerly of Gloversville, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at St Mary’s Healthcare, Amsterdam.
She was born in Schenectady on May 26, 1927, a daughter of Frank and Ellen Clark Traver and was a 1945 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School. Doris moved to Gloversville in 1953 and was a lifelong area resident.
Doris began substituting in the Mayfield Elementary School cafeteria in 1964, when her children were both in the school. She became a full time “kitchen lady” by 1968 and continued up the ladder until she eventually became the Food Service Manager for the school in the early 1970’s. Doris retired in 1984.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin.
Doris enjoyed knitting and her specialty was dish clothes, which she happily provided for many loved ones. She also loved spending time with her family and friends and was affectionately known as “Doey”.
Doris married Harold N. Ingram on October 3, 1953. Sadly, he died April 4, 2005. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Ann Marie, four brothers, and a sister.
Survivors include two children, H. William Ingram and Jayne E. Ellithorpe (Mark Brockert), all of Gloversville; five grandchildren, Matt, Stacey, Michael (Julia), Hailey, and Levi (Megan); three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cameron, and Anthony; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brennan Memorial Humane Society, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M.
