Gloversville – John E. Casler, 74, of Gloversville, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the Saratoga Hospital, Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born on June 22, 1948, in Fort Plain, NY, he was the son of the late Varnum and Evelyn (Coursen) Casler.
John attended the University of Wisconsin at Stout State for his bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant management. He has been in the restaurant and retail business most of his life, including owning and managing various restaurants. John most recently retired as a manager of Demi’s liquor in Johnstown, NY due to his deteriorating health. He was a member of the Gloversville Eagles. John has been an avid gardener since he was a teenager.
He married his loving wife, Shirley (Tilley) Casler on December 16, 1972, who survives.
John is also survived by his brother, Dr. Michael Casler (Adriane); daughter, Melinda Casler; sons, John Casler (Amanda), Christopher Casler (Mercedes); grandchildren, Mariah Morrell, Jacob Fleck, Eleanor Casler, Evelyn Casler; great grandchildren, Gianna, Valencia; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, John is predeceased by his grandchild, Liam Casler.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY.
