Gloversville – John Marvin Morenus, 86, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, NY. He was born on December 4, 1936 in Gloversville, NY to Marvin and Hazel Getman Morenus.
John graduated from Gloversville High School and continued his education at SUNY Oswego where he earned a BS/MS in Education. He was an elementary teacher at Northville Central School for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Many will remember John’s sense of humor and ability to make others laugh. He made many lasting friendships throughout his school and community connections.
John married Barbara Blasier in 1962, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last June. Their marriage was filled with adventure, laughter, and joy. Traveling and exploring new places was an important part of their lives. John was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Hazel Morenus, and his sister, Mary Morenus Tarbell.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, James (Theresa) Morenus; his daughter, Judith (Michael) VanNostrand; five grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at the Northville Funeral Service on Thursday, February 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.
