Manalapan, NJ – Leonard William Ackerknecht, 69 of Manalapan, NJ, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Born in Gloversville he was the son of the late Milford Leonard Ackerknecht and Joan (Rousa) Ackerknecht.
He is survived by his life partner Betsy J. Scheffer and her daughters Rachel (Lailani & Anthony Salinas) and Nina Carmichael. His daughter Jessica (Brian) Forgette, granddaughters Jillian and Bella. Sisters; Sharon (David) Nethaway, and Annette (Todd) Looman, Brothers; Jon Javarone, Dan (Bonnie) Ackerknecht, Kurt (Leslie) Ackerknecht, Steven (Holly) Ackerknecht, Eric (Jan) Ackerknecht and Christian (Jeanne M) Ackerknecht as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents Lenny was predeceased by his brother in-law David Nathaway.
Lenny attended Johnstown schools and left Johnstown in his early 20’s to work in the Equine (Standard, Thoroughbred) trade in New Jersey, but always called Johnstown home. Per Lenny’s wishes there will be no services.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
