Johnstown – Richard T. Klena Sr., age 92, of Johnstown, NY, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.
Born on March 7, 1930, in Johnstown, NY, he was the son of the late Victor and Magdalena (Jarabek) Klena.
Richard was employed in the leather industry until his retirement.
He married his loving wife, Gwendolyn J. Klena on August 30, 1953. They were happily married for 66 years until her passing on March 8, 2019.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Sandy Beatty; son, Richard Klena Jr. (Jennifer); grandchildren, Michael Beatty, Jenna Beatty Baron (Steve); great grandchildren, Carter, and Mason Beatty.
In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Paul, Stephen, Victor, and Ernest Klena; sisters, Marguerite Ralbovsky, Josephine Tiedeman and Emily Kralovic.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Interment will immediately follow at Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, NY.
