Johnstown – Carolyn R. Hoyt, 75, of Johnstown passed away at Albany Medical Center on March 23, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born in Gloversville, New York on May 1, 1947 to the late Edward and Etta Miles Fetrow.
Carolyn was employed by Espey Electronics in Saratoga Springs for many years. She enjoyed stopping at a good garage sale, “junk shops”, going to craft fairs and shopping of all kinds and was a member of the Johnstown Moose Club. Of all things Carol could fill her days doing, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Especially her great grandson Noah, who was the light of her life.
Her loving family includes her lifelong partner, Mitchell Richards of Johnstown; Daughters, Catherine Dwyer (Richard) of Johnstown and Wendy Merwin (Mike) of SC; Stepchildren, Shawn Hoyt, Stephanie Hoyt and Nancy Richards; grandchildren, Amber Rumrill (Ivan Goodbread), Michael Merwin and Cadence Bryant; great grandson Noah Rumrill. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Sweeney, June Chamberlain (Duane), Ethel Yates, Edward Fetrow (Sheila), Stanley Fetrow (Karen) and a special cousin, John Emkin. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a brother, Frank Fetrow.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service for Carolyn on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Gloversville Funeral Service, 4 Second Avenue, Gloversville NY 12078. Following the funeral, at 1 p.m. all are invited for continued fellowship and refreshments and a celebration of Carolyn’s life at the Johnstown Moose Club, 109 South Comrie Ave, Johnstown NY 12095.
