Johnstown – Dominic P. Malatino, age 97, of Gloversville, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Nathan Littauer Hospital with his family at his side.
Born on May 19, 1925, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Tony and Lucia (Patane) Malatino.
Dominic was a graduate of Johnstown High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Dominic worked at local tanneries most of his life and then was a bartender for many years at the Antlers Country Club in Amsterdam. He was of the catholic faith and a member of the for Immaculate Conception Church currently he attended the Holy Trinity Church. Dominic was also a member of the Johnstown Moose. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to the casino and the track. He was an avid bowler, golfer, softball player, dancing the jitterbug, and gardening. Most importantly, Dominic loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his daughter Deborah Brooks; sons, Dominic J. Malatino, Michael P. Malatino (Olivia); grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Jesse, Jeremy, Joshua, Brandon, Alex; several great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Dominic is predeceased by his brothers, Orlando, Joseph, and James Malatino; sisters, Rosie Renado, Josie Renado, and Angela Amico; his wives Lois and Gloria, and his companion, Virginia.
A private service will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871 with military honors.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home Inc., 1 N. Melcher Street, Johnstown, NY.
