Schenectady – Eleanor (Mickey) Costa Morris, 90, died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Schenectady Center Nursing Home. Eleanor was born in Johnstown, NY to the late Edmund and Anne Smullens Costa and lived in Schenectady and Glenville most of her life. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School. Eleanor was a member of St. Luke’s Parish for over 50 years and volunteered at the church and school. A wife, mother, and grandmother, she lovingly devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, camping and crocheting.
A devout Catholic, she enjoyed religious reading and daily rosary. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Morris Jr., with whom she enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2015. She was also predeceased by her brother Edmund Costa of Malden, MA and survived by her sister Carol Coughlin of Leominster, MA. She is survived by her four children; Kathryn A. (James) Zanella of Saratoga, Timothy W. Morris of Delanson, Patrick W. (Kristin) Morris of Lake George and Anthony E. Morris of Malta, and three grandchildren; Zachary J. Zanella, Jacob P. and Abigail S. Morris. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated, Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 9 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, 1241 State St Schenectady, NY. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St, Schenectady, NY.
Burial will be with her beloved husband Walter, in Saratoga National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Eleanor’s name to the Carmelite Monastery of Rochester, 1931 West Jefferson Road, Pittsford, New York 14534.
