Broadalbin – Stewart E. Stanton, Jr., 79, of Old State Road, Broadalbin, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 20, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Tupper Lake, NY on February 1, 1944, a son of the late Stewart and Nellie Beers Stanton and moved to Galway as a child. Stewart was a 1964 graduate of Galway High School. He served in the US Air Force and was stationed in Oklahoma City, where he met, Sharron, who would become his future wife.
During their marriage, Stewart and Sharron lived in Rogers, AR and later lived in Galway, NY for twenty-six years. After returning to Rogers in 1999, they moved back to Broadalbin in 2016.
Mr. Stanton was employed as a fork-lift operator for twenty-six years at the former Hussmann Corp. in Gloversville. Later, he worked for Walmart at Beaver Lake Aviation in Arkansas and retired in 2009.
Stewart enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin.
Survivors include his wife, Sharron Dunn Stanton, whom he married on November 23, 1966; three sons, Stewart E. (Patty) Stanton, III of Niskayuna, Sherman R. (Brenda) Stanton of Soldier, KS, and Sheldon A. (Sandy) Stanton of Galway; a sister, Phyllis Bazan of Amsterdam; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation was performed at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 25, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 7 North Street, Broadalbin, with Rev. Jun Segura. Final burial will take place at a later date at Long Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital or to St. Joseph’s Church, both in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M.
