Johnstown – Salvatore Joseph Cipolla, 88, a native of Manhattan and Johnstown, New York, and a resident of Houma, LA went to his heavenly home on February 17, 2023.
Salvatore is survived by two daughters, Amy and Susan Cipolla; two sons, Robert and wife Marie (Sevin) and Bryan and wife Barbara (Bilello); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and eleven step great-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Grace (Paul) Leach; sister-in-law, Renée (John) Milek; and brother-in-law Gerald (Laura Nezat) Mouton.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Mouton Cipolla; and parents Joseph and Frances Alaimo Cipolla of Johnstown, NY.
Sal was a 1952 graduate of Johnstown High School. He also attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. on a football scholarship. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He graduated from Francis T. Nicholls State College (now Nicholls State University), earning his B.S. in 1961, making a career in banking.
In his younger days, his interests were playing football, baseball and tennis. He enjoyed singing in a local barbershop quartet, hunting, fishing, and barbecuing and frying seafood for his family. In his years of retirement, Sal enjoyed walking his favorite dog Lucky, chatting with the neighbors, and watching old movies and listening to a variety of musical genres. He was always happy to lend a hand with the grandchildren, helping with after school pick up, often including a trip to Scarlet Scoop.
The family expresses our appreciation to doctors at Haydel Medical Clinic, Haydel Memorial Hospice, and the nurses and staff of Chateau Terrebonne nursing home.
