Broadalbin - Ryan J. Sweeney, 40, of Stevers Mills Road, Broadalbin, passed away at home on Sunday, May 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Gloversville on March 19, 1983, a son of Thomas and Patricia Horan Sweeney and was a 2001 graduate of Johnstown High School.  Ryan was a lifelong area resident.
At the time of his death, he was employed at Fage Dairy USA  in Johnstown.
Ryan enjoyed spending summer nights in the garage recliner, winters at the tree farm, and visiting with Gonzo anytime he could.  He loved his dogs Reese, Ollie, and Callie and enjoyed his hobby farm raising goats and chickens.  Ryan was well liked by anyone he met.  He would do anything for anyone and expect nothing in return.  His strength, determination, and courage never wavered.  Ryan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Ella Sweeney; his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Dorothy Horan; and two uncles, Richard and Daniel Horan.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Spraker, whom he married on June 17th, 2022; his father, Thomas Sweeney of Ephratah; two brothers, Scott (Carrie) Sweeney of Gloversville and Shaun (Ashley Jade) Sweeney of Brunswick, GA; his in-laws, Ronald and Judy Spraker of Broadalbin; two brothers-in-law, Ronald (Sheri) Spraker and Randy Spraker; three sisters-in-law, Rebecca Spraker (Tucker), and Shelly and Sherry Spraker; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 & Black Street), Johnstown followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Doug VanNostrand, officiating.  Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Regional SPCA, in care of the funeral home.
