Amsterdam – Wayne Gardner, 66, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 26, 1956, in Amsterdam, NY, to Gerard and Edna Gardner. Wayne was the beloved husband of Mary Gardner, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage.
Wayne had a zest for life and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He found solace and joy in his favorite activities, including hunting and fishing. Whether he was exploring the woods or casting a line into the water, Wayne felt a deep connection with nature. In addition to his love for the great outdoors, he had a passion for cooking, creating delicious meals that brought people together.
Family was at the core of Wayne’s life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He was a loving and devoted father to his children, Tiffany(Matthew Bonanno), Lindsay(Jason Mussey), and Felicia(John Hinkle). Wayne’s face would light up with pride and happiness as he watched them grow into remarkable individuals. His role as a grandfather was particularly special to him, and he adored his grandchildren: Landon, River, Olivia, Alexis, Everleigh, Natalia, and Luca.
Wayne was one of nine siblings, sharing a deep bond with his brothers and sisters. While he has reunited with his brother Stephen, who preceded him in death, Wayne leaves behind cherished memories with his surviving siblings: Esther, Elaine, Christine, Doreen, Jerry, Charles, and Eric.
Wayne Gardner will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love for the outdoors, and his talent in the kitchen. His warm smile, kind heart, and the love he shared with his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
