Broadalbin – Archie F. Rose, 92, of Bogden Road, Broadalbin, was taken home by the Lord on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Archie was born in the Town of Charleston on April 11. 1931 a son of Jay and Ophelia Vanderveer Rose and attended school in Fultonville. He was a lifelong area resident and lived in Broadalbin since 1996.
Mr. Rose was a corporal in the US Army Volunteer Reserve and was called to active duty in March 1953. He served eighteen months in Korea, attaining the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1955.
Archie was employed as an electrician at GE in Schenectady for twenty-six years, retiring in 1991.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin. Archie was a firefighter emeritus and served with the AETNA Engine Company in Fultonville.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Melvin and Wilber Rose.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Davis Rose, whom he married on August 24, 1952; a son Archie (Janice) Rose, Jr. of Broadalbin; two grandchildren, Alison Oeser and Adam Rose; and a great-granddaughter, Henley Oeser.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services. A private service will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Ecumenical Food Pantry, the Kennyetto Volunteer Fire Company, or the First Presbyterian Church, in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., 111 County Highway 106, Johnstown, NY 12095.
