Gloversville – Mitchell J. Richards, born on April 16, 1951 in Gloversville, NY to Charles J. Richards and Nancy E. Mansfield, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2023, at Wells House Nursing Home in Johnstown, NY. After obtaining his GED, Mitchell humbly and courageously served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1972. He was a proud veteran whose service was a testament to his love for his country and a reflection of his willingness to sacrifice for the greater good. He then worked for many years at Schenectady Chemical in Rotterdam Junction, NY.
He found solace and joy in nature whenever he had the chance. He delighted in the serenity of swimming, the camaraderie of camping trips, and the thrill of hunting – hobbies that allowed him to appreciate the beauty that surrounded him.
Mitchell recently lost his beloved partner, Carolyn R. Hoyt. Their relationship was filled with love and companionship. May they find eternal peace together.
Mitchell’s memory will forever be cherished by his loving daughter, Nancy Bryant (Andre) and his granddaughter Cadence, who reside in NC; his siblings: Marcia Ladeau (John) of Piseco, Agnes Richards of Gloversville, Jeff Richards (Lynn) of FL, and Chuck Richards (Mary) of Ballston Spa; and the loving members of the Hoyt family including Cathy Dwyer (Richard), Amber Rumrill (Ivan Goodbread) and Noah Rumrill.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate the life of Mitchell J. Richards at a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, at Gloversville Funeral Service, 4 Second Avenue, Gloversville, NY.
Mitchell will be laid to rest at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown, NY. While his presence will be greatly missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love him.
