Gloversville – Ruth Schrader, 86, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2023 at St. Mary’s healthcare in Amsterdam New York.
She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Minnie Rosa Wilson.
She was born March 16, 1937 on the Mountain Road and the Town Of Northampton. She attended Northville and Mayfield schools and was a lifetime resident of the area. She married Edward E Schrader on April 20, 1957. They were married almost 50 years Edward passed away January 2, 2007.
She was employed at Kervita Handbags and she also worked at Espey Electronics for 33 years in quality control and as a supervisor. She loved camping, especially a good camp fire at any time, playing cards and games with family and friends. Ruth loved everything Christmas, decorations and lights starting in November straight through the new year.
She is survived by four sons, James E. Schrader of Gloversville, Robert Schrader of Gloversville David (Kim) Schrader of Mayfield and Randy (Tracey) Schrader of Saranac Lake; grandchildren David Schrader, Jr., Christopher (Ashley) Schrader, Nicholas Schrader, Dylan (Savannah) Schrader; great grandchildren Mariah, Kristen, Andrew, McKenzie, Hunter, Connor, Christopher,Jr., Milo and Kira. She is also survived by her twin sister, Rita Van Avery and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Floyd and Minnie Rosa Wilson and husband Edward Ruth is predeceased by her siblings Martha Crowter, Bernice Clark, Pearl Shannon, Douglas Wilson, Jenny Tanner, Gladys Wilson, George Wilson, Cola Wilson, and Glenn Wilson.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on September 21, 2023 at the Gloversville Funeral Service, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, New York, 12078 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at King cemetery in the Town of Northampton. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American cancer society in Ruth’s memory.
