There are currently more than 5.4 million people in the United States with Alzheimer’s disease, and more than 15 million people caring for them. As a family caregiver, emotions can run high and one may feel many different emotions – guilt, sadness, anger and resentment all at once. These caregivers need support from family members, friends and their community, which is why the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York offers support groups throughout its 17-county area.
An estimated 1,400 individuals in Fulton County live with Alzheimer’s disease and more than 3,000 family members care for them. If you are one of these caregivers, the Alzheimer’s Association invites you to attend a new support group forming in Fulton County.
The Caregiver Support Group will meet on the second Thursday of each month, starting Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. The meetings will take place at the Nathan Littauer Perth Primary Care Center, located at 4041 Route 30 in Amsterdam.
