I would like to ask for assistance from the Gloversville African-American community in my research for an eventual book about the African-American experience in the Adirondacks – particularly within the Blue Line.
I have noted from census records many towns in northern Fulton County once had quite a few African-American residents. Four black soldiers from Caroga, for example, served in the Civil War. However, little is known about them, their families or their descendants, many of whom moved on to Gloversville.
