Donald Trump has no compassion for anyone

Donald Trump’s incompetence, lack of leadership and character have been on display daily for the last 4 years and we have suffered greatly. Let’s start with the 20,000 documented falsehoods, his repeated lies so divisive they have made Americans distrust each other and the free press, a hallmark of democracy.

Donald Trump touts himself as the law and order president yet he refused to call out acts of violence against the media, peaceful protesters, governors and mayors. He has failed to disavow racist groups. In the name of homeland security, Trump’s cruel zero tolerance immigration policy, inhumanly separating over 5,400 children from their families has been designated as torture. That total is the equivalent of taking all the children from the school districts of Broadalbin Perth, Mayfield, Fonda Fultonville, and Johnstown away from their families. Currently 545 children remain separated from their families and the Trump administration is unable to locate their families.

Donald Trump’s failure to institute procedures to protect public health during the pandemic has left America broken, contributed to 220,000-plus deaths and over 8 million cases of COVID-19 including my sister, brother-in-law and nephew, who contracted the virus in July, developed COVID pneumonia, suffered COVID effects for over 50 days and continue experiencing related issues.

From failing to acknowledge and address climate change, threats to not to accept elections results, not listening to the advice of his national security officers, including Dr. Fauci, America’s top infectious disease specialist, suggesting ingestion of household disinfectants, supporting Q-Anon and popular conspiracy theories, to the many attempts to destroy the Affordable Care Act this president has done far more harm than good. He does not represent the better interest of the American people and has failed to uphold his oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.

We must also remove from office his enablers whose drive to stay in power and self interest supersedes the needs of the American people. In our district Elise Stefanik staunchly supports Trump. She too must go.

We the people with the power of the vote can choose decent, competent leaders with character and integrity to represent all of us. It is not about voting for Republicans or Democrats, or supporting your party line, it is about electing people that can and will save our democracy. We must heal and restore our country. Use your power. Vote!
