Insurrectionists armed, dangerous

In response to Dr. Salvatore’s Jan. 20 letter (“Don’t compare 1/6 to 9/11, Pearl Harbor.”) You should probably check your facts.
Many of those involved in the attack were armed, and several had guns that police later seized.
On Nov. 12, 2021, Lonnie Leroy Coffmane, 71, of Falkville, Ala., admitted to one federal count of possessing an unregistered firearm or destructive device — the Molotov cocktails.
He brought five loaded firearms and 11 Molotov cocktails in his truck to Capitol Hill. There were more.
The Capitol police were protecting their place of employment. Just because Donald Trump says Capitol rioters had ‘no guns whatsoever’ doesn’t make it so.
Yes, BLM did destroy neighborhoods of several cities. That is inexcusable.
As of June 2021, more than 10,000 people have been arrested in protests decrying racism and police brutality in the wake of George Floyd’s death, according to an Associated Press tally of known arrests across the United States. I think this shows that BLM’s “violent destructive ways” are not being ignored.
How many others died because of the Jan. 6 “protest”? Just because they didn’t die at the protest, doesn’t mean their deaths were not a result of it.
I sympathize for the family of Ashli Babbitt.
But let me ask the question: If people were breaking into your house and you had a gun, would you shoot them?
