McKenna Szmarz goal leads Ballston Spa past Queensbury — Girls’ soccer

Ballston Spa defeated Queensbury 1-0 in a tight non-league matchup. McKenna Szmarz scored in the 65th minute for the Scotties, her first varsity goal, off an assist from Ayla Hathaway. Shea Canavan had 11 saves in goal for Queensbury, and Mari Lefco had two saves for Ballston Spa.

Saratoga Springs earned a 2-0 win over Broadalbin-Perth. Charlotte Kay scored both goals for the Blue Streaks, and Ava Goodman and Keegan Reinhart each had an assist. Mairead Marsden tallied 11 saves in goal for Broadalbin-Perth.

Duanesburg topped Middleburgh 3-1 in a Western Athletic Conference match. Natalie Tilton led Duanesburg with two goals, while Ella Raymond had the other. Ella Raymond, Allison O’Hanlon and Molly Laudato each had assists for the Eagles. Cierra DuPont scored a goal for Middleburgh, and Laney Heaney had an assist.

Schoharie defeated Fonda-Fultonville 3-2, as Alaina Martin had one goal and one assist to lead the Storm. Lily Ballard and Evelyn Messner also scored in the win for Schoharie, and Olivia Borst and an assist. Lauren Marotta scored a goal on a corner kick for Fonday-Fultonville, while Kami Myles scored the other. Rhyan Lewis had an assist, and Grace Furnace tallied nine saves for Fonda.

OESJ got past Galway with a 3-0 win. Sadie Snell, Taylor Hayes, and Lily Arduini all scored goals for OESJ, while Jordan Deninno and EmmaJo Schmidtmann each had assists. Eibhleann McElhinney collected 15 saves in goal for Galway.
