CAROGA LAKE — The 2023 racing season came to an end Sunday at Royal Mountain Ski Area.
The final race of the season was a Central New York Motocross Racers Association event that drew 375 entries.
Five area riders were among the winners on Sunday.
Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr., Johnstown’s Michael Ward, Fort Plain’s Spencer Mang, Fultonville’s Cayden Cary and Johnstown’s Kip Simonds all notched victories.
Attigliato won the 51cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old and 51cc open 4-to-8-year-old classes. He also was third in the 65cc two-stroke 7-to-11-year-old class.
Ward won the plus-45 expert and plus 50 classes, sweeping all four motos.
Mang won the collegeboy class. He also was second in the 122-250cc expert and 122-open expert classes.
Cary won the quad novice class.
Simonds won the pit bike stock class, while Johnstown’s Michael Cary won the pit bike mod class. Simonds also was third in the senior mini 12-to-15-year-old class and fourth in the open mini 79-112cc class.
In addition to Attigliato Jr. and Ward, five other riders also picked up wins in multiple classes.
Ravena’s Nick Touzin and Catskill’s Tyler Loud each notched wins in three different classes.
Touzin claimed wins in the 122-250cc amateur, 122-open amateur and schoolboy classes, while Loud picked up wins in the plus-25 expert, 122-open expert and plus-30 expert classes,
Croghan’s Cale Widrick won 65cc two-stroke 7-to-11-year-old and junior mini two-stroke 9-to-11-year-old classes, while Croghan’s Winston Widrick won the senior mini 12-to-15-year-old and open mini 79-112cc classes.
Utica’s Brady Colbert won the 122-125cc two-stroke and 122-250cc novice classes.
Other winners included Slingerlands’ Shawn Flansburg Jr. (51cc pee wee junior 4-6), Frankfort’s Devante McNair (plus 25), Sherburne’s Michaell Grover (plus 30), Tupper Lake’s Jessie Kavanagh (plus 40), New Berlin’s Scott Lindholm (plus-40 expert), New Berlin’s Jeff Williams (plus 45), Hamilton’s Gabriella Naylor (girls 10-16), Middleburgh’s Derrick Fuller (122-open novice), Frankfort’s David Porter (quad amateur), Westmoreland’s Preston Young (quad expert), Richfield Springs’ Ted Vanbrink (plus-25 quad), Corinth’s Easton Morris (mini quad 50cc), Stone Ridge’s Ayda Padusnak (mini quad 51-90cc), Stone Ridge’s Syler Padusnak (quad schoolboy/girl), Kenzlee Brownell (12-inch STACYC), Argyle’s Joshua Brenenstuhl Jr. (16-inch STACYC) and Hudson Falls’ Levi Dawson (50cc shaft drive).
Several area riders posted top-five finishes in their respective classes.
Amsterdam’s Maverick Manzer was second in the 51cc pee wee junior 4-to-6-year-old class, while Amsterdam’s Beckett Manzer was second in the 50cc shaft drive 4-to-8-year-old class.
St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson IV was second in the 51cc pee wee senior 7-and-8-year-old class. He also was third in the 51cc open 4-to-8-year-old class.
Johnstown’s J.T. Vietri was fifth in the 122-250cc amateur class.
In the 122-open amateur class, Fonda’s Charles Rose was third, St. Johnsville’s Joshua Smith was fourth and Vietri was fifth.
St. Johnsville’s Joshua Smith was fourth in the collegeboy class, Johnstown’s Adam Dutcher was third in the 122-250cc expert class, Broadalbin’s Ryan Rose was third in the plus 30 class and Johnstown’s Adam Handy was third in the plus-30 expert class.
Fultonville’s Matthew Cary was second in the plus 40 class, while Johnstown’s Ian Cary was third in the quad expert class.
Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was third in the plus 25 class, while Salvatore Attigliato was fourth in the plus-25 expert class.
In the mini quad 50cc class, Gloversville’s Eastyn Rizzo was second and Fort Plain’s Ryelee David was fourth.
St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson was second in the mini quad open 51-90cc class, while Gloversville’s Tyler Rizzo was third in the quad schoolboy/girl class.
Johnstown’s Julianna Kohout was fourth in the pit bike stock class.
