SCOTIA – Caleb Stewart finished with 29 points to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a 65-40 win over Mayfield in a Western Athletic Conference boys basketball game Wednesday.
The Panthers led 19-7 after one quarter, but the Lions outscored Mayfield 22-4 in the second quarter to take a 29-23 halftime lead. Mekeel Christian outscored the Panthers 36-17 in the second half to seal the win.
Marquan Newman scored 13 points for Mekeel Christian (10-2 overall).
Ryan Hennessy scored 14 points to lead Mayfield (7-7 overall), while Dylan Toscano added nine points.
