Boys Swimming Roundup: Gloversville defeats Fonda-Johnstown, 102-62

JOHNSTOWN – Gloversville won all 12 events on its way to a 102-62 win over Fonda-Johnstown in a Foothills Council boys swim meet at Johnstown High School on Wednesday.

Nick Cirillo won the 200-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly for Gloversville (5-3 overall), while Skyler Deming won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Wade Inman (200 individual medley), Austin Flynn (1-meter diving), Matt Helou (100 freestyle), Chris Town (500 freestyle) and Anthony Oathout (100 backstroke) also posted wins for the Sea Dragons.

Gloversville also won the 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays.

Tyler Askew (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly) and Cody Arminio (500 freestyle, 100 backstroke) posted a pair of second-place finishes for Fonda-Johnstown (1-4 overall).

Trevor Askew (100 breaststroke) also posted second-place finish for Fonda-Johnstown, which will travel to Amsterdam on?Friday for a 4:30 p.m. meet at Lynch Literacy Academy.

Canajoharie-Fort Plain 99, Amsterdam 74

AMSTERDAM – Canajoharie-Fort Plain won eight of 12 events to post a win over Amsterdam at Lynch Literacy Academy on Tuesday.

Chris Deyette won the 500-yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke for C-FP, while Ruben McFarlane won the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle.

Bryn Clark (200 freestyle) and Gabbie Kiefl (100 backstroke) also won events for Canajoharie-Fort Plain, which also won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Amsterdam’s Kristian Santos broke his own school record in the 1-meter diving competition. Santos posted a six-dive score of 275.45 points to eclipse his previous mark – set in December – by nearly 10 points.

Santos also won the 50 freestyle for the Rams, while Forrest Lee won the 100 butterfly.

Amsterdam also won the 400 freestyle relay.
