FFCS boys second at freshmen title meet

SCHENECTADY – The Fonda-Fultonville boys indoor track team picked up two wins and finished second with 38 points at the Tri-County Indoor Track League freshmen championships at Union College on Saturday.

Amsterdam finished 11th with 22 points.

Christian VanAvery won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.3 seconds and teammate Damion Freeman was sixth in 9.3 seconds.

Ben Vardai-Davidson won the pole vault, clearing 8 feet.

Amsterdam’s Omahri Sturdivant won the triple jump, reaching 37-7 1/4 and was third in the long jump with a leap of 16-8 1/4. He also took fifth in the 45-meter dash with a time of 6.0 seconds.

Fonda-Fultonville’s Curtis Connor was third in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:19.8 and was sixth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:14.1.

The Braves’ 800-meter relay team of Bryan Klim, Shawn Lansing, Vardai-Davidson and Freeman finished fourth with a time of 1:54.3.

Fonda-Fultonville’s Bryan Finn was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 33-4 and Tyr Morford was sixth, reaching 32-4 1/2.

Amsterdam’s Patrick Corcoran was fourth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 1:45.9 and Lansing was sixth in 3:14.1.

In the girls’ meet, Fonda-Fultonville’s Jamie Kasza won two events, leading the Lady Braves to a sixth-place finish with 32 points.

Amsterdam was 11th with 12 points and Gloversville finished 12th with 11 points.

Kasza won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:22.3 and the 1,500-meter run in 5:25.6.

Amsterdam’s Cassandra Robataille won the high jump, clearing 4-8 and Fonda-Fultonville’s Alesha Heacock was fourth, clearing 4-6.

Heacock took second in the triple jump, reaching 29-8 1/2.

Gloversville’s Allison Hammer was fourth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.4 seconds and Heacock was sixth in 9.5.

Gloversville’s Brianna Port was fifth in the long jump, reaching 13-3 1/2.

Fonda-Fultonville’s Brenda Santana was sixth in the 300-meter dash in 47.9 seconds and sixth in the 600-meter run in 1:59.7.
